As a manufacturer of agricultural harvesting components, Kondex Corporation is an enthusiast of National Dairy Month – and every year, it holds a very sweet event to celebrate the contributions of U.S. farmers. For more than a decade, the ice cream truck has come to visit Kondex, and associates receive a company-paid treat. This tradition has become one of the most anticipated workdays at Kondex.
“Kondex production picks up considerably in the spring and summer months, making the timing of our ice cream truck visit a well-deserving reward for our hard-working associates,” commented Kondex VP of Human Resources and Organizational Development Mike Frydryk.
While this is the Company’s most recent celebration, it’s one of many extra food bonuses associates have access to throughout the year. From Fat Tuesday paczkis in February to cookouts in May, a holiday luncheon in December, monthly catered lunch options, and several associate-coordinated lunches, Kondex has created an employee-minded culture.
“We do a lot to keep our associates happy at Kondex, and have found that these investments can have a significant impact on morale, retention, and success,” noted Frydryk. “Whether it’s food, events, or working in an air-conditioned plant, our associates appreciate the small-town compassion that’s very evident in our culture.”
National Dairy Month started out as National Milk Month in 1937 to promote drinking milk. It was initially created to stabilize the dairy demand when production was at a surplus, but has since developed into an annual tradition that celebrates the contributions the dairy industry has made to the world.
