While this time of year may be merry and bright, the rest of the year was certainly a challenge for most U.S. farmers. Weather played a significant factor this year. The wet spring delayed planting for just about everyone, a minor drought hit the Southeast, and an early cold front with rain (snow in the North) hindered the Fall harvest. Throw in the uncertainty in grain markets due to ongoing trade negotiations, and 2019 became a year to forget for many harvesters. The common thread to these factors is that they’re beyond our control. As we approach a new year, let’s focus on the things that we can control – our equipment and their components – to make 2020 our best harvest year! Kondex innovations helped many farmers realize a positive year despite its challenges.
Kondex recently received its eighth consecutive Gold Award from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) for its involvement in their 2019 I Make America Advocates Program. This honor recognizes member companies who completed the highest level of support criteria in promoting pro-manufacturing legislation and policies. Actions such as sending letters or emails to elected officials, holding an I Make America event, meeting with legislators, and more earned points to determine merit level.
In an annual tradition that began in the late 90s, Kondex associates were recently given the opportunity to donate to local causes. This year, associates raised $1,075 for the Lomira Food Pantry and an additional $1,075 for the Lomira Giving Tree! These resources will not only be used to distribute food and holiday gifts, but also help towards things like rent, utilities, medical/dental expenses, and/or gas to those in need within our community.Continue reading Kondex Associates Make the Holidays Brighter for Local Community.
At the start of each school year, Kondex is paired with a group of high school technical education students eager to build a charcoal grill. This year, that school was our own Lomira High School – one of nine high schools participating in Project GRILL (Growing Readiness in Learning and Leading). This program of Envision Greater Fond du Lac aims to attract students to careers in manufacturing by tasking them with building a working charcoal grill from scratch. Students can seek guidance and input from their manufacturing business partner throughout the project in preparation for the big reveal at the close of the school year.
