Celebrating 40 Years of Industry Advancement!
July marks Kondex’s 40th Anniversary, and as with many turning “the Big 4-0,” it’s been a time of reflection. President Jim Wessing has been at the helm since Kondex’s early days, and reflects on some of the Company’s milestones and industry advancements.
“We started small with a single product offering, but one that’s remained with us to date. Today, we are the number one manufacturer of sickle sections and assemblies in the world,” Wessing comments. Product innovations such as self-sharpening sections, top-serrated sections, bolted sickle assemblies, and lickety-split sickle segments were developed and introduced in direct response to customer and market needs. In many of these cases, the solutions were proposed and advocated by Kondex even before our customers recognized a market need. The growth of all Kondex products has been supported by passionate dedication to providing services for the customer, including direct ship, customized packaging and labeling, and short lead time order fulfillment. Together these innovations and passions have yielded strong, consistent growth for Kondex.
Having carved a solid reputation for supplying high-quality cutting and wear parts to the ag industry, the Company then diversified into new markets. Kondex became a leading supplier to the commercial lawn and turf, biofuels, forestry, and construction markets, and today supplies more than 12,000 different components to these industries. As the Company grew, so did its facilities. Kondex has expanded or moved operations 10 times in the last 40 years. By size, the largest of which were the construction of its current facility in 2007 and expansion in 2011 that brought its total footprint to over 200,000 square feet. In terms of geography, however, its largest addition came in 2012 when establishing Kondex GmbH, located in Bad Essen, Germany.
“We’ve grown tremendously as a company,” said Wessing. “Just thinking about the last 10 years alone, we’ve added so much to our offerings.” In addition to the facility expansions, Kondex has also added or upgraded its operations to build greater value for its clients. Thermal spray, robotic welding cells, and laser cladding are just a few of the recent innovations implemented.
Kondex and its associates congratulate Wessing on the success he’s helped build, the values he’s instilled in each and every employee, and the advancements he’s led – not only within Kondex, but within our communities and industries served. More importantly, we’d like to thank our customers and business partners for their support, business, and trust that have defined our 40 years of success!
